Hoang Thi Loan memorial

A SPIRITUAL PROJECT

The Ho Chi Minh Mother Memorial is an architectural and landscape project complementing the political and spiritual tourist sites of the Kim Lien villages in Nghe An, northern Vietnam (Vinh Province).

Nestled in nature, within a forest and elevated on a mountain, the tomb of Ho Chi Minh’s mother overlooks the memorial, half a kilometer away, as well as the rice fields below.

The project features a reflective water mirror that changes with the seasons, capturing the varied hues of tree leaves and the filtered light from the sky. It employs a scenography and optical design that guides visitors around the lotus pond, allowing them to perceive the gradual interplay of light through the dense forest and the luminous reflections of the sky in the rice paddies in the valley below.

This site is tranquil and sheltered, deep in the forest, away from prying eyes and noise. The terraced circular construction is positioned at a natural spring, which supplies smaller ornamental lakes situated below the memorial.

It is a unique and magical place within the forest—simple yet elegant—a discreet yet powerful space for memory and contemplation. Its precise and poetic scenography evokes a sense of eternity.
