Saigon Pedestrian Footbridges
Thu Thiem, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
The two pedestrian bridges span a distance of nearly 300m above the Saigon River, connecting the historic city center with the new financial district in the new urban area of Thu Thiem. The bridges will be used both by pedestrians and bicyclists, and will be a platform for observation and sightseeing. They also feature spaces for street food, refreshment and communal activities.
Fully made of ultra-high performance fiber concrete, the bridges achieve an incredible thinness and lightness that can only be seen in metal structure. Like a rice stalk, the pedestrian bridges cross the Saigon River. On their desk, a large canopy like the old Vietnamese bridges creates nice shadows and a dynamic figure.
